Three Wishes

My boyfriend Mark took this photo in Ta Prohm Temple at Angkor, Siem Reap province in Cambodia.

This was used as a location in Angelina Jolie's famous film, Tomb Raider.

The eerie atmosphere was mitigated by the beauty of the ruins with the liberal coexistence of gigantic trees seeping through ancient stones. Sunlight casts  mischievous shadows on hundreds of smirking faces carved on mossy walls. Gods and creatures, forever petrified, overlooked our every move. The alchemy of the ruins may be heightened by a song stuck in my head for two months now.

Three Wishes by the duo--The Pierces, has been in our playlist for quite some time and was accidentally revived one night of March. The lyrics spoke to me as if it were a chant which has been passed on since the Middle Ages. Haunting and melancholic, I could almost hear its melody echo through castles and temples. Unfortunately, this song was used in a very unlikely series--Gossip Girl, which by the way, I did not know until recently. A bit of a bummer there. I thought this song would've fit well in any Game of Thrones episode. But that's just me. Anyway, if I could have three wishes it would be: to be able to teleport anywhere, anytime, to have 10 more wishes (if possible) and I would save the third.

I just came back from Camiguin and is now down with the flu. I hope to get better for my Singapore-Malaysia trip next week. For now, enjoy the music.

We'd be so less fragile
If we're made from metal
And our hearts from iron
And our minds from steel
And if we built an army
Full of tender bodies
Could we love each other
Would we stop to feel

And you want three wishes:
One to fly the heavens
One to swim like fishes
And then one you're saving for a rainy day
If your lover ever takes her love away

You say you want to know her like a lover
And undo her damage, she'll be new again
Soon you'll find that if you try to save her
It will lose her anger
You will never win

And you want three wishes:
You want never bitter
And all delicious
And then one you're saving for a rainy day
If your lover ever takes her love away

You want three wishes:
One to fly the heavens
One to swim like fishes
You want never bitter
And all delicious
And a clean conscience
And all it's blisses
You want one true lover with a thousand kisses
You want soft and gentle and never vicious
And then one you're saving for a rainy day
If your lover ever takes her love away
